3-13-19 Snow Updates

 Updates from Weld County's Snow Desk:
Updates are also being posted on Twitter.

10:00 p.m. update:
Current Weather Conditions: Snow and blowing snow throughout the county

Current Road Conditions: Snow pack with drifting on the east/west roads

Current Operations: all trucks out, with road graders helping with operations

Forecast Weather Conditions: Snow and blowing snow, strong winds, throughout the night.

Forecast Road Conditions: Snow packed, icy  with drifts creating mainly one-lane roads. Please use caution when driving.


9:35 p.m. update: 
Weld County Government offices will open at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, 3/14/19.

8:20 p.m. update: Road Closures                                                                              
WCR70 from WCR41 to WCR43: POWER LINES / CLOSED BY WELD COUNTY          

HWY 34 from WCR49 to Wiggins: Icy conditions / CLOSED BY CDOT

I-76 from Wellington to Wyoming: icy conditions / CLOSED BY CDOT

WCR54 from WCR17 to Hwy 257: drifted closed / CLOSED BY WELD COUNTY       

O St. from 11th Ave to 35th Ave: drifted closed / CLOSED BY THE CITY OF GREELEY

WCR100 from WCR31 to WCR33:POWER LINES   NOW OPEN       

WCR4 from WCR27 to WCR31: Downed tree NOW OPEN



8 p.m. update
Current Weather Conditions: Snow and blowing snow in most parts of the county. Heavy snow in northern Weld.

Current Road Conditions: North/south roads show improvement, with more drifting on east/west roads.

Current Operations: All plow trucks remain diligent in snow removal with road grader assistance in deep drifts.

Forecast Weather Conditions: Blizzard warning remains in effect until midnight for central and south Weld. Blizzard warning until noon Thursday for north east Weld.

Forecast Road Conditions: Snow packed roads with drifting snow is expected through Thursday evening.Use caution when driving.

 

5 p.m. update
Current Weather Conditions: Snow continues with strong winds.

Current Road Conditions: Plows are making rounds throughout county. Stranded vehicles are becoming problematic with strained tow services.

Forecast Weather Conditions: Snow with strong winds into the night.

Forecast Road Conditions: Roads to remain snow packed and narrow. Drifting snow continues in all directions through tonight. Use caution when driving.

 

3:00 p.m. update:
Current Weather Conditions: Snowfall is starting to lighten in some areas, wind continues to be a problem.

Current Road Conditions: Roads remain snow packed with drifting snow in all directions of travel.

Current Operations: Trucks are resuming operations on primary roads as visibility improves.

Forecast Weather Conditions: Blizzard conditions are forecast into this evening with snow amounts tapering off into morning.

Forecast Road Conditions: Roads to remain snow packed and slick until winds subside. Use caution when driving.

 

1:00 p.m. update:
Current Weather Conditions:
Blizzard conditions throughout county.

Current Road Conditions:
Multiple state highways closed. Snow packed roads and drifting snow in all areas with high winds.

Current Operations:
Plows are returning to safe zones awaiting improvement of conditions in order to resume operations.

Forecast Weather Conditions:
Extreme winter weather continuing into tonight. Shelter in place advised.

Forecast Road Conditions:
Some roads may become impassible due to drifting snow and stranded vehicles. Use caution when driving.

 

12:00 p.m. update
Current Weather Conditions: Extremely low visibility due to blowing snow throughout the county.

Current Road Conditions: Snow accumulating and creating hazardous driving conditions. WCR 70 is closed from WCR 41 to WCR 43 and WCR 100 is closed from WCR 31 to WCR 33 due to downed power lines and poles. I-25 and HWY 85 remain closed, as well as HWY 34 from Kersey to the east.

Current Operations: Plow trucks in southwest part of county unable to safely continue operations at this time. Will resume as visibility improves.

Forecast Weather Conditions: Blizzard conditions remain the same.

Forecast Road Conditions: Extreme winter driving conditions to remain through the night. Use caution when driving.

 

10:00 a.m. update:
Current Weather Conditions:
Heavy rain is turning to snow in some areas of the county.

Current Road Conditions: Roads are wet with some snow starting to stick in western portions. Concrete roadways are becoming icy.

Current Operations: All plow trucks have been dispatched to their routes. Snow plow operations will continue through Thursday night. Grader stations are on duty and monitoring gravel roads.

Forecast Weather Conditions: Strong winds and blizzard conditions are expected starting early afternoon through this evening.

Forecast Road Conditions: Expect roads to become very slick with dropping temperatures.
