Work on WCR 49 honored by industry
Today, the Board of County Commissioners congratulated Weld County Public Works staff and Interstate Highway Construction (IHC) staff (as the county contractor for the project) for winning two prestigious awards for excellence in concrete paving from industry peers in the Colorado/Wyoming Chapter of the American Concrete Paving Association (ACPA). Both awards were for work done on the WCR 49 Corridor.

The first award was an Award of Excellence for the WCR 47 and State Highway 392 Intersection Improvements in the category of municipal streets and intersections with less than 30,000 cubic yards; the second award was an Award for Excellence for the WCR 49 Design Build Project from I-76 to Highway 34.

Awards were presented based on the following criteria: project schedule; project scope; concrete materials; paving process; quality control; pavement smoothness; sustainability; innovation; safety; and public relations

The two awards will now be competing for a national award at the ACPA conference at the end of November.

The WCR 49 Corridor project is the county’s largest infrastructure project to date and was completed on time and on budget last year.
