Foster and kinship care holiday party donors honoredThe Weld County Department of Human Services (DHS) hosted an appreciation breakfast this week to recognize the 38 business partners, volunteers and organizations who contributed to the success of the 2017 foster and kinship care holiday parties. At the breakfast, donors were presented with a framed commemorative photo from the party and personalized letters of appreciation from the Board of Commissioners.

DHS hosted nearly 400 foster and kinship care parents and children at its annual holiday parties on December 12 and 13, 2017. Festivities included a catered meal, desserts, gifts for all children and youth in attendance, photos with Santa Claus and a chance to win one of 50 four-foot stockings, which were filled with donated gifts from numerous Weld County employees. Altogether, thousands of dollars in gifts, blankets, winter gear, books, gift cards and more were collected and distributed to all the children and youth in Weld County foster and kinship care.

“We would like to sincerely thank you for supporting Weld County families,” said Commissioner Barbara Kirkmeyer. “We are tremendously grateful and proud to have you in our community—you are truly a champion for our children and teens in crisis.”
