Weld County Parkway

Weld County Parkway opened to the public on November 10, 2015.

With the aid of a $3.1 million grant from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA), Weld County built a four-lane concrete road and two new bridges without incurring any debt.

This 3.5-mile road extends WCR 49 north from U.S. 34 to WCR 60.5 tying into WCR 47 at the first county-owned traffic signal. The Parkway, along the WCR 49 Corridor, provides a vital north-south road through the county.

The project was rated the Best Portland Cement Concrete County Road Project in 2015 from the Colorado/Wyoming Chapter of the American Concrete Paving Association (ACPA). The award recognizes high-quality workmanship and serves as an opportunity to share information about highly-successful projects. Click here to read the press release.

Weld County Public Works also developed a master drainage study for the area around the Parkway and WCR 49 Corridor north of WCR 50 with the help of Farnsworth Group, an engineering consultant selected from among four companies that responded to a request for proposals. The study can be downloaded with the links on this page (large document). Please email comments or questions to Senior Engineer Mike Bedell, P.E., at or call (970) 400-3706.
