The Department of Public Works provides for maintenance and construction of roads, bridges and storm drainage facilities in the public right-of-way throughout Weld County.

The department is comprised of nine divisions: Trucking, Mining, Gravel Roads, Pavement Management, Weeds, Administration, Engineering, Maintenance Support, and Bridge. Public Works is responsible for the maintenance of over 2,200 miles of gravel roads, over 700 miles of hard-surfaced roads, 450 bridges, thousands of culverts, and one traffic signal at the intersection of Weld County Parkway and Weld County Road 60.5 (East 8th Street).
