Planning and Zoning


Weld County is updating the Comprehensive Plan which is a guiding document for land use and development in the unincorporated areas of the County.  The update includes revisions to Guiding Principles and Goals that help the County achieve the desired vision set forth by the public, elected officials and staff.  The changes to Chapter 23 and Chapter 24 reflect policy changes stemming from the Comprehensive Plan.  Please take an opportunity to review these changes.  We welcome your feedback and suggestions.

Mission Statement

To protect and enhance the quality of life for County residents through the implementation of the adopted Comprehensive Plan, Weld County Code, and Building Codes while providing professional, friendly and quality customer service to the community.

Planning in Weld County

The Weld County Planning Department is organized into two service divisions including Building Inspection and Planning Services.

The planning process is designed to provide a consistent review of individual land-use matters through chapters adopted into the Weld County Code.  The County Code ensures that each proposed development adheres to the standards adopted by the Board of County Commissioners.

Citizens can now view the status of their permit, search for existing permits, view land use applications and building permits, submit/view zoning and/or building complaints, apply and pay for specific types of permits.
