Youth in a groupThe Young Adult Employment Program is a vital link between classroom learning and actual on-the-job experience that matches young people's skills and interests with employment opportunities. To assist young adults with efficient up-to-date job search strategies, a Young Adult Employment Specialist can provide: Resume Guidance, Interviewing Skills, Job Readiness Assessments, Job Applications and Search Assistance. Young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 are eligible to participate in the Young Adult Employment Program. Economic circumstances are not a consideration for program restraints. How can the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Youth Programs help me?

The WIOA Youth Programs may help you in many different ways based upon individual needs. The goal of this program is to assist you in successfully completing high school or a GED program, as well as acquiring skills to obtain employment.

To help you reach these goals, WIOA may help you with the following services:

Am I eligible for the WIOA Youth Programs?

To be eligible for the WIOA Youth Programs and currently enrolled in school,  you need to be between the ages of 16 and 21. If you are out of school, you need to be between the ages of 16 and 24. 

Applicants may also need to meet at least one of the following categories: 

  • Deficient in Basic Literacy Skills
  • School Dropout
  • Offender
  • Homeless/Runaway/Foster Child
  • Pregnant or Parenting Youth
  • Individual with a Disability
  • Low Income
