January is National Radon Action Month

National Radon Action MonthJanuary is National Radon Action Month, and the middle of winter is a perfect time to test your home for radon. Radon is a naturally occurring gas that comes from the breakdown of uranium found in the soil and rock around your home and can seep into your home through the cracks and crevices in its foundation. If exposed to high levels of radon over a long enough period of time, then you are at an increased risk for lung cancer. The only way to tell if your home has radon is to test for it. Your neighbor's test results are not a good indicator of what the level of radon is in your own home! Request a free radon test kit (Weld County residents only) today from the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment.
