Mission Statement

To protect and enhance the quality of life for County residents through the implementation of the adopted Comprehensive Plan, Weld County Code, and Building Codes while providing professional, friendly and quality customer service to the community.

Notice to Contractors and Homeowners:
The Weld County Board of County Commissioners approved the Adoption of the following 2018 International Codes on December 17, 2018:
2018 International Building Code
2018 International Residential Code
2018 International Mechanical Code
2018 International Plumbing Code
2018 International Fuel Gas Code
2018 International Existing Building Code

The new codes become effective January 1, 2019; however, the Building Department will continue to accept construction plans/documents designed under the 2012 International Codes until February 28, 2019.  Effective March 1, 2019, all documents submitted for Building Permits AND work for permits issued after March 1st, must comply with the 2018 International Codes as adopted.

The following codes remain as currently adopted:
2017 National Electrical Code
1997 Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings
2006 International Energy Conservation Code
2006 Uniform Swimming Pool, Spa and Hot Tub Code.

Citizens can now view the status of their permit, search for existing permits, view land use applications and building permits, submit/view zoning and/or building complaints, apply and pay for specific types of permits.

Building in Weld County

The Weld County Planning Department is organized into two service divisions including Building Inspection and Planning Services.

New Construction HomeCounty residents are the most important people that come into our office, whether in person, mail or on the phone we are dependent on them. The Building Department’s goal is to work with the residents of Weld County to help them achieve their goals while providing safety during and after the construction process.

The Weld County Building Code, as adopted, addresses the design and installation of buildings and structures through requirements which focus on safety, design control and construction quality.
