Bigger location, more space to facilitate easier elections processA new location in the Chase Building will allow the Weld County Elections Department more space to count, process and house ballots during elections. The move is to be complete March 7.
Located at 822 7th Street, the election office’s new space is considerably bigger than its current location. Consisting of 4,737 square feet, the layout provides room for a more seamless process for ballot delivery, signature validation, and counting. It also includes a viewing room where the public can watch the process, and there is also a room to store election equipment.

In addition to providing room for a better ballot collection and counting process, increased space will also reduce a burden on employees. Of the 3,928 square feet at the office’s current location, 1,800 of it consists of conference rooms shared with other departments when elections are not occurring. This requires staff and volunteers to set up rooms for elections, and return rooms to their normal appearance when an election is over. With the move, configuration will no longer be an issue as election equipment can be left up year-round.

The new location will only be used during election season. The day-to-day elections office is remaining in its current location at 1400 North 17th Ave.
