Redesigned website features new look and new functions

The Weld County Government website has a new look and new functionality following a six month redesign process, but the biggest improvements are actually behind the scenes.

“Our new web content management system brings a fresh look and feel to the county website along with updated technology and efficiencies,” said Weld County Chief Information Officer Ryan Rose. “These improvements will not only help the public as they navigate the site but also the county employees who maintain the content on the site.”

Now the site will perform better with multiple operating systems on a variety of platforms and will feature responsive design to be more user-friendly on mobile devices.

“We are excited about the new improvements,” said Commissioner Chair Julie Cozad. “Our web team has been working diligently on this project, and I think users will be pleased with the new interface.”

The first change visitors to the website will notice is the increased use of visual elements on the page and an update page layout, including news articles from the county located prominently on the home page. The menu bar on the top of the page better organizes the information contained on the site, and a list of quick links lower on the page will help users quickly navigate to the information they are looking for.

Users will also be able to utilize the “How do I” drop down menu on the page as a new way to drill down to information and services, and a Google search function within the page will provide another avenue to search.

“This has been a huge project for the county,” said Commissioner Pro-Tem Steve Moreno. “The last full redesign to the county website occurred in 2009 with some additional updates in 2014. It was time to really take another look at the site and incorporate these changes.”

If users of the site had saved bookmarks to the county website prior to January 14, they will need to re-bookmark those pages as the links will be broken. “For years the address for the county website was www.co.weld.co.us.com, but with this redesign it will officially be www.weldgov.com,” said Rose. “We really wanted to make the web address as user-friendly as possible.”
