A: Colorado Revised Statutes mandate that the treasurer's office mail the property tax notice to the owner of record, as their name and address are listed on the Tax Roll certified by the county assessor. Therefore, your mortgage company does not receive a copy of the property tax notice. Most mortgage companies perform their own research on the property taxes they are responsible for by your contractual agreement, we do not keep track of mortgage companies. If you feel your mortgage company needs a copy of your property tax notice, you can send them a photocopy.
If you and your mortgage company submit a payment, the treasurer's office will process the payments in the order of which they were received until the account is paid in full. After the account is paid in full, any additional payment will be held as a prepayment for the next year or refunded back to the paying party.
