Weld County has received an Urban County Designation from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This means the county is eligible to receive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds once a Consolidated Plan is submitted and approved by HUD. An Urban County must be at least 200,000 in population not including Entitlement Cities. In Weld County there are several Entitlement Cities: Greeley, Brighton, Northglenn, Thornton, and Longmont.

It is anticipated the Consolidated Plan with Action Plan will be submitted to HUD this spring. View the draft Consolidated Plan(PDF, 7MB). Once the Consolidated Plan is approved, the county anticipates receiving around $1,041,930 each year from 2021 to 2023 and beyond. Weld County will establish a grant program for eligible participating jurisdictions. Entitlement Cities are not eligible to receive funds from Weld County’s grant program.
